Democracy/Cole: For Cole, the key to a truly democratic society, which he defines as "a complex of associations held together by the will of its members" (cited in Pateman 1970 (1)), lies in the democratization of industry.
Two developments in capitalist production can thus be overcome: 1. the asymmetry of power that leads to the subservience of the workers, 2. the economic inequality that leads to freedom and political equality not being available to everyone.
